Passing Fancies ~ October 2023

Reading: Maggie Bullock’s The Kingdom of Prep: The Inside Story of the Rise and (Near) Fall of J. Crew.

Audio: A few episodes of the podcast Dressed.

Video: The detective series Van der Valk on PBS. Just average, but it did make me fantasize briefly about taking a trip to Amsterdam.

Art: Food & Fashion at the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology.

(Tr)eats: Some really nice apples from the farmers market. A slice of pumpkin-custard pie from one of our favorite bakers.

Drinks: Homemade “mocktails” with San Pellegrino sodas, tonic water, lime, etc.

Garb: I’ve just tossed out some old, worn-out shoes and ordered a new pair of office-appropriate (but still fun) black boots.

Beauty products: Two new favorites: LUSH Violet Cream hair conditioner and UOMA Beauty’s Flawless IRL Skin-Perfecting Foundation.

Pleasures: Seeing friends at several scent-events in a row. Anticipating the release of my spouse’s new book in early November.

Plans: Getting a Covid booster. Getting back on track with some posts for Now Smell This. No specific Halloween plans, unfortunately!

How about you?
