Passing Fancies ~ March 2024

Reading:  Just catching up on a few issues of The New Yorker. And hey, did everyone see that interview with perfumer Hilde Soliani in The New York Times?!

Art: Learning about nineteenth-century Japanese prints for work.

Audio: I’ve been on an R.E.M. binge for the past week or two.

Video: Nolly on Masterpiece. I’ll watch anything with Helena Bonham Carter, and this is a very entertaining series.

(Tr)eats: Hot cross buns, the best I’ve ever had, from Feliz Deliz (a local dessert baker).

Drink: A really delightful cocktail named The Other Two at Fossetta.

Garb: It’s the season for Anna Sui jackets over sleeveless black dresses. My gray faux suede jacket is also seeing lots of action. But what I really need to do right now is bring some no-longer-needed clothing to consignment shops and thrift stores.

Beauty products: Function of Beauty shampoo and conditioner for wavy hair (available at Target). A trial-size tube of Ouidad’s Climate Control Featherlight Styling Cream.

Pleasures: A really fun work project may be unveiled this week: watch this space!

Plans: Catch up with an old friend at the Met. More botanical garden walks. See the Beatrix Potter show at the Morgan. Stick to my recent exercise program (!!).

What have you been up to?

  1. Yes, I was thrilled to see the interview with Hilde Soliani in NYT! Also been playing NYT games every day, wishing more perfume-related words would be accepted by the Spelling Bee, like “otto” and “davana.”
