I’m a big fan of Morbid Anatomy, a Brooklyn-based organization “surveying the interstices of art and medicine, death and culture since 2007.” I’ve attended assorted online lectures and classes (and their winter market of art, antiques, and oddities!) and I’ve given two talks through their online platform (on spooky perfume ads and Fuseli’s iconic painting The Nightmare).
This month, I’m offering an online talk (for a winner plus one or two of their friends) as an auction item in their annual fundraiser. It’s a topic I haven’t specifically covered yet, and I think it fits the Morbid philosophy: a sniff-along of six eerie aromas and sinister scents. This auction was posted about five months ago and now we’re in the final weeks!
