Reading: The Wych Elm by Tana French
Art: There are so many museum shows I need to see in the coming month or two. I’ve been slacking lately. But I did view this virtual tour of In Sensorium at the Corning Museum of Glass, and you should, too!
Audio: The Cure’s new album (beautiful).
Video: Finally watching the final season of Derry Girls…always a delight. On a darker note, Netflix’s Woman of the Hour is a solid take on a true-crime story.
(Tr)eats: Leftover Thanksgiving desserts. And last night we enjoyed the birthday pie that C. made for T.: raspberry lemon meringue.
Drink: A gin and fig cocktail at Talula’s. Apple-and-cinnamon shrub from the farmers market.
Garb: At long last, I brought two pairs of boots to a shoe repair spot to be resoled for the winter. And I found an old but like-new Isaac Mizrahi (for Target) coat at the back of my closet, and have no memory of acquiring it, but it’s just right for the current weather.
Beauty Products: 19/99 Lash Tint (in brown). A sample set of Henné Organics tinted lip balms. Féret Le Baume is apparently very popular right now but I bought my tin a few months ago and it’s almost empty, so I need to get a new one soon.
Pleasures: A recent windy weekend at the beach. The wind-down of a hectic September-November schedule. A quiet Thanksgiving weekend, mostly at home.
Plans: A low-key holiday season: coffee dates with friends, very simplified gift-giving, favorite movies, pleasure-reading. I have plenty of new projects planned for early 2025 but I’m just catching my breath right now.
I hope that you are also finding some moments of quietude and comfort this week!
