Once in a while someone asks me my opinion about Tom Ford fragrances. Let me try to summarize: I think some of them are excellent. I think some of them are boring. I think all of them are overpriced. And I won’t buy (or review) any of them anyway, because I choose to reject Tom Ford’s branding and marketing.
I’ve heard that Tom Ford Lost Cherry is worth trying, and I’ll get around to smelling it eventually, just for reference. In the meantime, I’d like to mention a few other cherry-inspired perfumes that are worth seeking out.
They all smell great, in different ways, and I don’t feel like I’m compromising myself by recommending them.
Gourmand cherry: Hilde Soliani Una Tire ‘Altra. I decided to write this post when I was reacquainting myself with this playful Technicolor interpretation of cherry liqueur a few nights ago and remembered how much I liked it. ( I reviewed this one on Now Smell This a while ago.)
Glam cherry: Délices de Cartier. I remember trying this radiant fruity-floral when it was released back in 2006. It seems to have been discontinued but you can still track down a bottle online. (Robin covered it on Now Smell This years ago.)
Grunge cherry: Blackbird Universal Supreme. At the other end of the spectrum: melting cherry popsicles and hot tar, in a bottle with a Russian Constructivism-inspired design. This is a brand-new release from a Seattle-based indie line; you can find more info at their website.
Girly cherry: Lolita Lempicka Sweet. This is sugary fantasy interpretation of the fruit, like a wearable cherry cola. It’s pure fun and it’s easy to find at a discount price online. (Robin also reviewed this one on NST.)
Green cherry: Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Eau Cerise. By “green,” I mean all-botanical! This is a natural (and very wearable) fragrance centered on a black-cherry theme. (I reviewed it for Now Smell This last year.)
Do you have any favorite cherry fragrances? Feel free to share in a comment!
Two confessions: I don’t normally like cherry fragrances, although I love fresh cherry fruit; and I find the name of Tom Ford’s fragrance offensive. There, I said it!

I like fresh cherries and some cherry fragrances…and I totally agree with you on the last point!
